| After castle coombe in april my insurance & tax is going to run out on the 6 again so im thinking do i sell & save up to get one of these http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3372630.htm or do i keep the 6?
Ive been thinking of a change for a while but there isnt really alot i can get thats as quick & in as good condition for the money i am going to get back plus i do love my car as i have changed it to how i want it over the years, But i have been looking for a while at different types of vehicle s13 200sx, escort rs turbo, E36 M3 but really i am going to have to save some moneys. I have had the 6 for around 2 & half years now & have put alot of time, money & effort into it so dont want to sell it locally & see it get distroyed, i suppose its one of those things you have to put up with if the money is right.
Enough of the jibber jabber just wanted to hear peoples opinions on accord type r & selling the 6 is the accord going to put a smile on my face & is it worth selling the 6 & saving to get one? |

| Accord Type R's are gurt lush, I'd say it'd be a worthwhile upgrade!
But then i can't imagine owning a car for 2 and a half years, so I can't really put myself in your shoes! _________________ |

| Peugeot to Honda? Sounds like a good plan to me Nic can't complain that you don't have a 'practical' car and you can enjoy the VTEC You coming out on the bicycle this afternoon? |

| Never driven one, but ive heard good things.
I think your main dilema is do i sell my 6 that ive had for 2 and half years that ive modified to make my own, its unique to me and i know pretty much everything about it i need to. But what else can you do to it? Without spending alot of money or changing the wheels.
It gets to a point you need to move on, get a new blank canvas and have some fun in your new car.
I miss my old 106 sometimes, but i much prefer my 206 and had fun putting all my own little bits on it that dont cost too much.
Go for it! |

From memory its the only issue they have. I was seriously looking into them a few years back. Made 2 calls but both where.sold. Also the later models are missing the front lip so don't look quite as nice. |

| The accord type-r is a very reliable, fun, good handling car! The h22 is a very capable motor and can easily be tweaked with a decent exhaust, manifold, decat and a chip/vafc. The only bad thing about the engine in the accord compared to the earlier h22's is the low down pick up, but this can be easily rectified by a lightened fidanza flywheel. They also handle well with an LSD and decent suspension as standard being a type-r. As said keep an eye on the 5th gear reverse issue. It seems to be down to a mixture of the selector fork and synchro. Most have been done by now but something to be wary of. The other thing to look out for is good oil maintenance. The h22 is bulletproof...but only if well maintained. Also make sure vtec kicks in ok. It will only kick in once the oil is up to a specific temp and pressure, but not kicking in when it should could indicate vtec solenoid issues possibly from bad oil maintenance or lack of oil, obviously neither are good! They can sometimes be a little tappy but make sure this is down to the tappets just needing adjusting. Honda recommended doing the tappet adjustment every 12k but tbh every 20k or so would be fine. Very good cars though, good handling and obviously the addictive vtec! _________________ |

Thanks for the advice mate sounds good. It seems they could be similar to the gti6 having very slow pick up at low revs then better at around 4k rpm but obviously without vtec.
So if you have never driven a car with vtec how will u know its working properly? |

| You'll know, check level of oil, make sure you driven it for 3-4 miles, floor it and then once you hit 5.5k. (think that's what it should be standard) they'll be a change in exhaust note and should be a noticeable pickup. It will feel weird and sound wrong at such high revs to begin with but you need to rev very high to make sure when you change gear you stay in vtec range! _________________ |
