PostSubject: Parking Ticket?   Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:45 pm

I think this is the sub forum which you can't access without being logged in?

So last night I double parked down my one way street which is seriously wide, people do it all the time but I got a parking ticket and my car authorised for removal - although now I've moved it I guess this doesn't apply.

It's a 70 fine or 35 if I pay in 14 days.

What if I don't pay by the 28 days? Can anything bad actually come of it, all they have is the registration plate number and the fixed ticket was under my windscreen wiper.

Any ideas how they can take it futher if I just ignore it, or should I feel like a complete MUG and pay the 35?

There are so many hit and miss laws about parking tickets.

Chances are your car had a photo taken where it was parked (most parking people have cameras now) so theres no getting out of it that way.

They have no legal right to do anything to your car now it's moved, but if you don't pay they WILL take you to court, and they WILL win.

You were parked illegally, it doesn't matter if people do it all the time, you were just unlucky enough to get caught.

Cough up the 35... it's easier and cheaper in the long run.

Yeah just did some searching and starting to realise that.
That's 35 I could certainly have done with! The stupid thing was that I didn't even realise it was illegal to park like that to be honest, I'm not sure why I know it sounds dumb!

Haha tbh i've done it plenty of times Razz

If you'd been clamped it'd be a different story... if you can remove it without damaging it, you can make them pay you to give it back Razz

Are there any clear signs saying no parking or any parking restrictions?

If not then im sure you can appeal it. If its not clearly signed that you must not park there then shouldnt be an issue.

But with it being a 1 way then im sure there will be signs.

Just stump up the 35 and dont get caught again.

I think it's because I was parked more than 50cm's from the curb, I was a whole car width + a bit more from the curb Very Happy

I know it's wrong, and I'll get a letter sent to my home address if I don't pay so I'll pay it in a few days. Love the way to pay by telephone you have to dial an 0845 number, swollen lady parts.

Found an alternative number, small victory, 08** numbers and mobiles don't mix too well.

Adam - starting to think cars and inner cities don't mix at all. Driving is gash, parking is gash, the fear of it getting stolen is gash. lol. Might take the car home and go back to public transport.

Is it a council parking ticket or 3rd party firm?

Oh and make sure it's legit before ringing and paying over the phone as always chance it could be a scam!?

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately it's all legit and issued by the council! if it was 3rd party I would be ignoring it.
Only reason I'm going to call to pay it is because if I try and park by the city hall I'll probably get another ticket lmao.
