The 1.8 non turbo isn't best engine to have with those. They are too heavy for the power and the auto will sap even more power.

Also avoid the 2.0 8v, an engine VAG started using around the same time the Titanic was built IIRC....

Has to be a 1.8T in those.

Yeah avoid that.

Find a 1.8T version as Jimmy said.
Learn to drive properly K and then you wont need an auto Razz

I do like the A3, well the S3's anyway.

Yeah of the A3 the S3 is the only one I would get. Otherwise I would just buy a Golf.

Bodys on them are a bit too round in the early ones.

I'd go for a Leon Cupra R 225, same engine (can get to 270bhp pretty easilly) and is lighter and I think better looking.

A friend has bought a Red one and it is loverly!

Spinning a one litre is starting to make more sense now... Razz

On topic - there's lots of tasty stuff out there with an auto box, that Audi would be gutless - you're probably better off with the Smart!

There's plenty of 80/90's Jap stuff about with slush boxes...

i am thinking may do manual at some point, am aiming to trade smarty in for maybe a roadster or an mx5 early next year when they will be cheaper you seeeee???!!

i have been eyeing up integras- the DC5 version is proper lovely but we shall see...keep the suggestions coming it is very entertaining Very Happy

Supra

Your insurance will be cheap as you come with your own air-bags as standard...
